"Where is she? I'm her Principal Caregiver"
Day 58:
As per comment from mom, "good news hope to be home in one month don is interviewing caregivers.
any thoughts? they do not have to be licensed, scary that means i could
be a caregiver if i wanted to"
Well, it's true. Mom and dad are on the home stretch and beginning to look at caregivers! That means that one day soon she may not be at the hospital!
Dad "thinks" that mom will be discharged in two weeks and if that's the case we rejoiced in thinking gosh....better two weeks out than two weeks in. Just to remember way back when she was first in the hospital and to now be able to be where we are...it's just fantastic.
One great moment of excitement happened when they were practicing a transfer from the wheelchair to their car. Apparently their Nissan Murano is too high so dad's going car shopping. On a side note, I think it's important for all of us to see that mom is becoming mobile. For a long time I just had visions of her being stuck inside...but not today! Got a little vitamin D...
Another major milestone today happened when mom stood up by herself! Apparently they were practicing moving up and down, in and out of the wheelchair and her therapist just said, "okay, you're turn"!
I actually just got off the phone with mom and she sounds GREAT! Her voice is so strong, sounds happy and a bit tired. Every time I get to speak with her I can clearly hear her improvement just in her voice!
*** HI MOM ***
ReplyDeleteI can be your caretaker. I will wear a little vest and help you with everything.
I just hope you get home really soon. It appears as if I missed the memo that today was BATH DAY. Oh, and green beans with my dinner? I think you need to hurry home to rescue me.
LUBS, TEDDY
