Day 74: Well folks...she's home!

At this very moment, mom is sleeping in her clothes, in her bed, next to the love of her life. She had an extremely tiring day filled with a lot of emotion, many tears of joy, tears of happiness and tears of appreciation.

If you could have seen her as we were driving into TRR...to spot the beautiful yellow ribbons, to walk into her home filled with beautiful flowers, balloons, cards, signs, chocolate cake, orchids, champagne...

Two months ago dad and I can home to gather some belongings to bring to the hospital. Family pictures, moms favorite lotion and lip balm, you know just some belongings. I clearly remember as clear as the sky is blue wondering if I would ever return home to their house and have mom with us. At the time I could barely stand myself for thinking such a thought but it was true.  I'm sure dad had the same thought.

So to be here tonight and to see mom, dad and Teddy together as a family is certainly a sight to behold. Mom said tonight that now she feels like the healing can begin as she is surrounded by the friendship and love of her friends and family.

Thank you all, so many of you for taking the time to follow moms progress and share in her day to day milestones with us. We will probably continue the blog as well but for how long we don't know. In the meantime, please enjoy some wonderful pictures from today...

Day 73: Counting the hours...tick tock, tick tock

Just one more day...

Day 73:

Right now, at this very moment mom and dad are having a "going home" party! Dad bought three gigantic cakes for three various floors that mom frequented and then...I guess they just wait.

As dad would say...only one more day and then we wake up and go. But now, I think he's saying, if we lived in Japan, we'd be 8 hours ahead so really, we just have to wake up!

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us"
Albert Schweitzer

I can hear my dad voice now saying, on behalf of our family, our extended hospital family and all of our dear friends, thank you all for rekindling moms spark.

Day 72: Formerly known as...

And the artist formerly known as Prince...

Day 72:

Yesterday mom and dad were both in tears as they read a beautiful letter written to mom by one of her therapists calling mom "the patient of a lifetime". They are both so touched in fact you can't even let dad talk about it without him tearing up.

So now dad loving calls mom, "The patient of a lifetime, formerly known as Boise".

It's strange to write this but there is a sense of bitter-sweetness. Mom and dad couldn't be more excited to peel out of there but they are so deeply touched and connected with all of the medical team at Banner Good Samaritan. They both want to adopt all of them.

This quote above genuinely reflects how mom and dad feel about their therapists and team of doctors. By nature of their job, they will soon get another new patient and their loving family and life will go on. But to mom and dad, they will always be a part of the family and will always be remembered, appreciated and loved.

Doesn't it make you wonder the times in your life where you may have changed a life and didn't even know it...

Day 71: Who said dad isn't handy?

Dad the Handyman (yes, I know...this is a perfect picture)

Day 71:

Mom is busy blogging: "your dad is an inspiration to all love to you and donna for your prayers and support. two more days, but who's counting teddy,i can hardly wait to see you
nordstrom watch out"

Dad is busy... at home doing a bit of everything! Assembling a few new items, exchanging cars, viewing moms new rehab facility (which I hear is beautiful with lots of smiling, happy patients).

If you were to talk to dad today, you would all laugh and feel like hugging someone! He is giddy beyond belief and you can just feel his smile over the phone. He answers the phone, "four more days and we wake up at home"!

Haven't spoken with mom but I'm sure is having a great day. Dad said, given that he's not there she'll do something remarkable like walk 15 steps, which he'll miss of course. Regardless of who is there mom, "go mom go"!!!

Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, FOUR.....
